"The chosen painting was Women Of Algiers by Eugene Delacroix as a historical painting taken and made to be manipulated and unfamiliar. The original painting consisted of three women, one of them being black who I decided I will focus on the black women who in historical context were a slave at the time. The painting is a diptych with focus on the black woman on the left side and a self-portrait on the right not based on the occupation of the woman, being a slave, in the historical painting but on the fact that she is a woman of colour such as I am in the current era.
